    Pick Your Own Vegetables and Fruit To book a time, you must email RhizomeFarms@gmail.com with desired visit time (Visits are up to 1 hour and guided). Bugspray (for mosquitoes) is recommended. Everything is grown without spray (organically-grown but not certified) You may harvest a variety of the following items: Apples (wild) Pears Basil Chard Peppers (shishoto, pepperoncini, lunchbox, bell, jalapeno, etc) Blackberries Sea buckthorn berry Tomatoes (heirloom) - sauce tomatoes excluded Eggplant (regular and long) A fun and educational (and delicious) trip for the whole family! The Pick Your Own experience is a 1 hour long guided tour. We will be walking through the wild orchard first to harvest apples and pears , then we will head to the vegetable plot to harvest tomatoes, basil, a variety of peppers, rainbow chard , and then we will head to the berry plot to harvest sea buckthorn and blackberries . The cost is $40 per visit, and the size is about a half bushel. Flowers and sauce tomatoes are not included, but PYO flowers can be added on

    About Rhizome Farms Farmer Elva: I grow nutritious, high quality vegetables that taste great, grown in a way that promotes ecological sustainability and community development with your health in mind. I am a first generation farmer, farming on an orchard property that my grandparents obtained when they fled the war in Estonia. My education is Political Science (mainly international relations) and Food Security I have run a CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) weekly veggie box program since 2012. I also have sold produce to small retailers, farmers markets, chefs and more... Thanks for everyone's support and interest but this year but I will be focusing on the community farm and my own personal life . It's been a good 10 years.     There is no CSA subscription service for 2023 There is no CSA service for 2023 or 2024 Community Supported/Shared Agriculture (CSA) program: To be part of a CSA means to purchase a farm “membership” in the springtime prior to the start date and enjoy a weekly basket of naturally grown produce over a period of several weeks in the spring, summer and fall. ​ There are 3 sizes: The Mini : 3-4 items, varies by week, perfect for a vegetable lover or 2 people. The Medium : 5+ items, varies by week, perfect for vegetable lover or a small family. The Large : 2 x Medium baskets + any extras, perfect for a vegetable lover's family! ​ Rhizome Farms produce is: Naturally grown (no chemical fertilizers, herbicide, pesticide, no sprays and growing untreated seeds) Veganic (wildlife, ecosystem inhabitants treated with respect) Ecological (grown without mono-cropping, instead using crop rotation and supporting soil health) Grown on site in St. Catharines, with no re-selling - (sometimes baskets contain items organically grown from friend's farms in the Niagara region, should they have a surplus of something tasty that I know you would enjoy!) ​ Benefits of being in a CSA program: Make sure you and your family are eating their veggies!
