Seeds - Cucumber, Sumter

Pickling cucumber that can also be eaten raw.  They grow to about 4-5" and best when harvested at this size.  This variety shows high resistance to many diseases that tend to take cucumbers out, such as mildew.  Successive plantings, later plantings and covering with floating row covers can avoid pest problems such as cucumber beetles.

Cucumbers are a warm season plant, and need to be planted after last frost (May 24 in Niagara) or started indoors and transplanted after last frost.  Cucumbers are a vining plant and enjoy a good trellis (recommmended) or lots of space.
